Redundancy procedure

A redundancy policy for a collectively-run organisation, which aims to avoid situations of coop member redundancy and offers structures to support staff who may be made redundant, as well as offering alternative employment within the organisation, where possible.

Wondering if this could include a ‘pre-redundancy process’ as well, in which there are some clear organisational steps (ie - flags raised at meetings based on certain budget/grant indicators) that can be taken in the 1yr/6months/etc before it appears a role is likely to run out of funding, to help prioritise the need to fundraise or otherwise reshape a role, well before things are at the point of exploring redundancy? Has anyone heard of this process happening elsewhere?

  2. Hi! We’re now thinking of a procedure on how to ‘degrow’ as we’re not sure of funding on the long term. This (redundancy) example can inspire us to come up with a sencario of one or some people leaving, but what if the whole organisation runs out of funding? Would be very interested to explore these questions and see examples if they are out there :).

Good thinking! I know Coal Action Network put some work into this a couple of years ago, but not sure where they got to with it…
